GUBI presents the
Silk Lantern Pendant Light, a refined
pendant light designed by Ejner Larsen and Aksel Bender Madsen in 1951. Never previously put into production, this design combines the lightness of Japanese-inspired aesthetics with the distinctive clarity of Danish modernism. Its cylindrical natural silk shade gently diffuses the light, creating an intimate interplay of brightness and shadow. Walnut veneer rings frame the textile from above and below, while the lacquered steel structure defines the silhouette and gives the lamp an elegant, almost floating appearance. Also conceived in floor and wall versions, the Silk Lantern collection carries the same material language and distinctive cylindrical form across different scales and applications. Brought into production for the first time by
GUBI, this rare design introduces a warm and atmospheric presence to contemporary interiors while bringing a previously unseen piece of Scandinavian design history into the modern home.
